Likir Gompa
Likir Gompa is situated just 62 km away to the west of Leh town and deciphered its name from the word Likir, means ‘The Naga-Encircled’ because it is encircled by the two great serpent spirits, the Naga-rajas, Nanda and Taksako. The land of the site is given to Lama Duwang Choswje by Lhachen Gyalpo, the fifth King of Ladakh. Lama Duwang Chosje had started the construction work of the monastery. |
