Likir Gompa

It was built around mid of 11th century and related to yellow Hat Sect of Buddhism. The Gompa has number of the holistic shrines and provides shelter to the 120 Buddhist monks. It is also running a school in which more than 3o students get schooling. It had achieved its peak position during the reign of Lodos Sanghu. From that time it came under the Tsongkhapa order. It provides teaching of three basic Pratimoksha and the basic Buddhist teachings. The Likir Gompa organizes the annual festival Dosmochey on 27th to 29th day of the 12 month of Tibetan Calendar. At that time you can enjoy sacred masked dance.

The holistic Gompa has come under several succeeding reincarnations of Naris Rinpoche, even till some time ago, it has done so. The monastery includes protective deity wearing golden armor, two Dukhangs (Assembly Halls); one at right of centre of complex and another at the left of the complex. Inside the Dukhang you can find the statues of Bodhisattva (Lord of All He Surveys), Amitabha (Buddha of the west), Sakyamuni (the Historical Buddha), Maitreya (the future Buddha or Buddha of compassion) and Tsong-Kha-pa (founder of the Yellow-Hat-sect), images of Avalokitesvarva.
