Bandhavgarh
Bandhawgarh wildlife sanctuary is situated at centre of India with an area of 105 sq.km and buffering zone of 407 sq. km. It is declared as National park in 1968. This wildlife sanctuary derived its name from ancient fort, situated inside the forest. It belongs to the Vindhaya mountain range and boasts of to have higher density of tiger population in India. This is also the country of white Tiger and had been found in the old states of Rewa for many years. The last known white tiger was captured by Maharaja Martand Singh of Rewa in 1951. |
The park has large bio diversity. The density of the tiger population at Bandhawgarh is largest in the India. The park has large number of leopard and various other species such as Nilgai, Chausinga, Chital, Chin Kara, Wild boar and sometimes fox or jackal. In the Bandhawgarh National park, one can enjoy Elephant safari for viewing tiger apart from four wheelers or jeep. |

These evergreen forests provide shelter to more than 140 species of birds which include browed fantails, steppe eagles, green pigeons, grey Malabar hornbills, blossoms headed parakeets, blue bearded bee eaters, green bee eaters, owls, wood shrikes etc. This is also the home of several types of reptiles like python and cobra.
