Pushkar

Rajasthan is a state of colors and Cattle fair in Pushkar is the just small part of beautiful Rajasthani culture. Pushkar is a small town nearby the religious city of Ajmer, hosts an annual event called Pushkar Fair. The fair, visited by Foreigners as well as Indians, is perhaps the largest gathering in any fair. It is the largest cattle fair of the world, celebrated during the month of October – November. A spotlight of one’s holiday in India, the camel Festival hosts 50,000 camels in this magnificent event which are sold, decorated, saved and raced. From mere 14000 to 200000, this is how the spectators swell during the fair. Dance, music and colorful shops spring up during this fair. The colorful attire reflects the zeal and mood of folk of Rajasthan. Further, puppet show and more traditional games enchant the tourists.

Pushkar is one of the holiest cities for Hindus; even it is one of the fourth city of Hindus’ Char Dham. According to Hindu mythology, it is considered to be birth place of Brahma the ‘Creator of Universe’. It is famous for the Lord Brahma temple which is said to be only one in India. Pushkar is notable for 52 Ghats in the town where People take dip for the purification of the soul.

PUSHKAR CITY

The city is surrounded by the Aravali Hills which provides it perfect location for the fair. It is small town and easily enough to get around on foot. There are no auto- riksas in the town centre. A by-cycle is the best tool to get around in the town. Puskar Main Bazaar is tangle of narrow lanes lined with an assortment of interesting small shops. Good buys include, particularly, silver and embedded jewelries, fabrics, bed and cushion covers.
