Andaman & Nicobar Tourism
Andaman & Nicobar, the Union territories of India, are situated in the Bay of Bengal. They have an area of 8293 square km with 527 small and big Islands and consist of two main Islands Andaman and Nicobar. They lie very close to Arakanmayo mountain range of Burma. Since they falls in tropical zone thus receive heavy rain fall during the rainy season. This is one of the major reasons for the dense forest of the Islands. The densely forest cover an area of 7171 sq km of total geographical area of the Islands that is why the government has opened 96 wildlife sanctuaries, 9 national Parks and 1 Bio sphere reserve in these Islands where you can find 55 terrestrials and 7 marine mammal species, 246 species and sub species of birds and 76 terrestrials species of reptiles. |
The Islands are well connected by the mode of air and sea. Ferries and Ships provide amazing journey from Chennai, Kolkata and Chennai to the unexplored islands of Andaman and Nicobar. |
