Jodhpur Tourism

Jodhpur City is known as ‘Gateway to Thar’ due to its proximity to Thar Desert. Jodhpur is a historical city which was founded by Rao Jodha from Rathore Kingdom. Jodhpur was earlier the capital of old Rajasthan named as ‘Marwar’. Jodhpur is also known as ‘Sun City’ because the sun shines here throughout the year.


Mahendragarh Fort in Jodhpur is the largest and strongest fort in Rajasthan. It was capital of Rao Jodha which was never occupied by force because of a 150-meter hill with clear sights all around, with some three kilometers of massive ramparts built around the edges.


There is maharaja’s palace, several temples and an extensive garden still farmed to this day. Other important places inside the fort are Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Zenana Deodi, Chamunda Mataji Temple etc. Just one km away from Mahendragarh Fort is Jaswant Thada, a royal monument built in honor of brave persons next to a beautiful lake.

Another interesting scene Of the Jodhpur can be seen from Mahendragarh fort that it looks blue from this fort. Other places like Mandore in neighborhood, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Khejarla Fort are worth watching places of Jodhpur.

There are a few lakes such as Balsamand Lake, Kailana and Gulab Sagar Lake in the city where you can enjoy yourself in the lap of Mother Nature. As the Rajputana rule dominated Rajasthan and they were very religious as they made very magnificent temples in and around Jodhpur. Some of the famous temples are Baba Ramdev Temple, Ganesha Temple, Mahamandir Temple, Balaji Temple, Santoshi Mata Temple, Lal Sagar etc.
